Liquid vapor phase change


Level: Research Master's degree in Fluid Dynamics, and energy transfer (DET)
Content: This course concerns two-phase flows with phase change phenomena. First the thermodynamics aspects of liquid-vapour equilibrium are presented. Then interfacial phenomena are discussed: surface tension, wetting, interfacial resistance. Balance equations for mass, momentum and enthalpy for each phase and jump equations at the interface are introduced. These equations are applied to several configurations: drop evaporation, thin liquid films evaporation, nucleate and film boiling, flow boiling and condensation.
